ABOUT ABOUT

Online ticket sales go offline at 3:00 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the box office starting at 6:30 p.m.

In partnership with the Southwest Review at SMU in honor of their Centennial celebration, please join us for an evening with two distinguished literary giants.

Joyce Carol Oates has penned bestselling novels, collections of short fiction, essays, plays, poetry and, in September 2015, a memoir about her childhood. The Lost Landscape: A Writer's Coming of Age is a vivid chronicle of her adolescence in rural western New York and is a powerful evocation of the romance of childhood and its indelible influence on the woman and the writer she would become.

Natasha Trethewey served two terms as the 19th Poet Laureate of the United States from 2012 to 2014. She is the author of four collections of poetry, including Native Guard (2006), which won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry.

At this event, Trethewey will debut a new poem she’s written inspired by a work of art in the DMA’s collection.
