In connection to The Mother Load installation, we welcome Dallas artist Tina Medina to demonstrate how she appropriates the genre of Paños (handkerchiefs) to create her own personal expressions of identity related to gender, ethnicity and visual heritage. Participants will experience a blend of fine and folk art working directly on Paños with a variety of art materials and techniques such as printmaking, drawing, painting, and embroidery. Paño arte originates from prison culture, in which prison artists use handkerchiefs as portable canvases to express very specific thematic collages of imagery. Center for Creative Connections Art Studio. All materials included.
