ABOUT ABOUT

“Masters of Fiction”

Daniel Woodrell is the author of eight novels, many of which are set in the Missouri Ozarks, like his 2006 novel-turned-Academy-Award-winning-film, Winter’s Bone. His new book, The Maid’s Version, tells the story of a 1929 dance hall explosion that killed 42 people in West Table, Missouri. Poet, novelist, and short story author Ron Rash’s new book, Nothing Gold Can Stay, is set in the Appalachian Mountains. The collection includes fourteen linked stories that invoke the haunting evanescence summoned by Robert Frost’s poem of the same name. His 2008 novel, Serena, is being made into a film starring Jennifer Lawrence that is scheduled to be released in 2014.
