ABOUT ABOUT

Van Gogh used still life in facinating ways in order to master each new challenge he set for himself as an artist, such as capturing the essence of rural life, learning the use of modern color, or expresing his appreciation for nature.  The painter's still lifes often represented intensely personal commentaries and they were instrumental in the unfolding of his oeuvre.  Join Dr. Cornelia Homburg, independent scholar and curator, as she investigaes the impact of Van Gogh's intense focus on specific objects.
